A Paleontologist is an expert in paleontology. Paleontology is the study of prehistoric life on earth. There are a few types of paleontologists. There are misropaleontologist, paleobotanists, and paleontologists that study fossils. Some of the jobs that paleontologists do are field work, they study fossils, and reconstruct prehistoric communities and environments. Field work means going to different places like mountaintops and plains and looking for fossils. by reconstructing their communities and environments they can see how they lived and other things.
To find a good place to look for fossils paleontologists have to find rocks where dinosaurs may have lived. They use geologic maps to locate these places. Geologic maps are maps that allow you to see the type and the age of rocks that rea found on the earths surface. Once they find those sedimentary rocks the go prospecting. Prospecting is a term used by paleontologist that means "hunting for fossils". The best way to hunt for fossils is to look on the base of the hill.
